Research interests
2008-2011 postdoc project on the water transport in mangrove trees, the plasticity of their hydraulic architecture, its ecological and functional significance. The study is funded by the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO).
 
2005-2008 Ph D thesis: "Hydraulic architecture of mangroves. Ecological plasticity and functional significance of water conducting tissue in Rhizophora mucronata and Avicennia marina."
 
2003-2004 Biology M Sc thesis: “Wood anatomy of the mangrove Rhizophora mucronata Lamk. and the relationship with the environment: the significance of the vessel density for the safety of the water transport system.”
