Many computers and computer programs are unable to distinguish dates in the year 1900 from dates in the year 2000 since they use only two digits to store the 'year' information.
It is easily predictable that incapacity to correctly treat the 'year 2000' condition will lead to systems malfunctioning after 31/12/1999.
Another Year-2000 related topic is that 2000 will be a leap year while 1900 was not, meaning software could derive the wrong weekday for dates after February 2000.
It is imperative that all responsable and concerned people dedicate sufficient effort to anticipate these kind of problems and assure a working environment after that date.
