Category theory symposium (PSSL 72); April 8 - 9

Quantum logic/quantale/category workshop; April 10 -14

These events are supported by FWO Research Network WO.011.96N.

Category theory symposium: April 8 - 9 :

After consulting Francis Borceux we have decided to organize a category theory symposium in Brussels, April 8-9, 2000, motivated by the many visitors at Louvain-La-Neuve and Brussels in that period.

The style of the meeting will be essentially inspired by the ``PERIPATETIC SEMINAR ON SHEAVES AND LOGIC''-meetings (PSSL).  From our perspective in Brussels, this meeting will be a satellite of our annual workshop on quantum logic (April 10-14, Brussels, see below for information).

Please let us know if you are interested and/or intend to give a talk at the weekend symposium. For any further information please contact:

Quantum logic/quantale/category workshop; April 10 -14 :

We contemplate a third five day, intensive workshop devoted to topics of current interest related to operational quantum logic --- see for example last year's workshop. This year we would like to emphasise:

Quantum structures and frames/quantales/categories

We plan to have one or two didactic talks a day followed by extensive time for organised discussion. To facilitate interaction and for practical budgetary reasons, we aim to keep the number of participants limited to a maximum of 20.

The following confirmed participation of the workshop:

Diederik Aerts (Brussels), Haroun Amira (Brussels), Jean Benabou (Paris), Wim Christiaens (Ghent), Bob Coecke (Brussels), Mamuka Jibladze (Louvain-La-Neuve), David Kruml (Brno), Joachim Lambek (McGill), Célestin Nkuimi Jugnia (Louvain-La-Neuve), Jan Paseka (Brno), Pedro Resende (Lisboa), Sonja Smets (Brussels), Steven Sourbron (Brussels), Isar Stubbe (Louvain-La-Neuve), Frank Valckenborgh (Brussels), Karin Verelst (Brussels)... also some of the Category Theory Symposium participants confirmed to participate a few days at the workshop.

The lokation of the workshop is the campus of the "Flemish" Free University of Brussels, VUB, Pleinlaan 2, B-1050 Brussels; Building F, 10th floor, rooms 10F734, 10F745, 10F746, 10F747. Lectures will take place in the afternoon.
