Fourth Biannual IQSA Meeting QUANTUM STRUCTURES'98 August 30 - September 5, 1998 Liptovsky Jan, Slovakia First Announcement and Call for Papers The International Quantum Structure Association (IQSA) is pleased to announce that the next Biannual IQSA Conference "Quantum Structures'98" will take place in Liptovsky Jan, Slovakia, in Aug. 30-- Sept. 5, 1998. The conference continues the successful meetings which took place in Castiglioncello, 1992, Prague, 1994, and Berlin, 1996. It is organized by the Mathematical Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Bratislava, the Military Academy, Liptovsky Mikulas, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics of the Slovak Technical University, Bratislava, and the Slovak Union of Mathematicians and Physicists. Scope The objective of the Conference is to encourage communication between researchers throughout the world whose research is related to quantum structures and their applications in mathematics, quantum mechanics, quantum measurements, quantum computation, philosophy of quantum mechanics, quantum probability, etc. Scientific Committee: Honorary Chairman: M.L. Rybarikova Location The village of Liptovsky Jan (650 m above sea level) lies within the beautiful Low Tatra Mountains region, not far from the High Tatras in north Slovakia, near the town of Liptovsky Mikulas (12 km). The hotel Bystra is situated near the bus terminal at the entrance to the Jan Valley. The accommodation is comfortable (140 places) and the hotel is well equipped for a scientific meeting. The accommodation is mainly double-rooms. There is a swimming pool, sauna, and Scotch squirt, and other curative facilities of spa are available. Travel There are good railway connections from Bratislava (286 km) and Prague (549 km) to Liptovsky Mikulas, and also Bratislava-Vienna (65 km). Vienna airport, Schwechat, is 40 km from Bratislava with a direct bus link. It is possible to fly to Poprad and to continue either by train or by bus to Liptovsky Mikulas (58 km). Instructions for speakers Abstracts, of one page length, must be prepared in LaTexX and submitted by e-mail to dvurecen@mau.savba.sk or by post together with source file. The abstracts (including title, name, address, e-mail address) will be referred by the members of the Scientific Committee, and the authors are asked to indicate the length of the talk (general lectures are preferably surveys). The referees will make final decisions about acceptance, whether oral or poster presentation as well as the length of the talks. We recall that the acceptance of an abstract does not guarantee the acceptance of the paper in the Proceedings volume. Deadline for abstracts: March 15. Payments Assumed prices participants 400 USD accompanying persons 300 USD The price will cover the conference fee, accommodation, full board, and social activities. Our resources for the support of students and of people from countries with weak economies are very restricted. Nevertheless, if your participation would depend on such support we will try to help.
