National and international collaborations

Cosmopolis, an active partner in the Urban Studies Network (former UAB Stadsplatform)

The Urban Studies Network is a network of urban researchers linked to VUB and Erasmushogeschool within the University Association Brussels. Cosmopolis is centrally involved in this network as Eric Corijn is the chair of the network and Jessica van de Ven its Communication Officer

The aims of this network are threefold:

  1. Academisation of the ‘master in urbanism and spatial planning’ (= master programs need to be accredited; need for research output)
  2. Synergy between research teams (last year 2 workshops and an external conference were organised); this year output possibilities will be emphasized.
  3. Educational cooperation: teaching staff of both institutions are establishing a new master in urban studies in which disciplinary structure borders are exceeded
More information about the Urban Studies Network can be found on www.universitaireassociatiebrussel.eu/urbanstudiesnetwork
