Collaborations of the Physical Geography research group
Within
the Physical Geography research group (FARD) research activities focus
on the investigation of glaciers, ice sheets and their interactions
with climate. The Ice and Climate group is
internationally known for its glacier and ice sheet simulations by
means of complex computer models and satellite observations,
specialising in the study of the dynamics and behaviour of ice bodies
as response on climate change. There exists an extensive network of international research collaborations with:
- European Project for Ice Coring in Antarctica (EPICA)
- Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)
- Hadley Centre, Met Office, Exeter, UK (Dr. Jeff Ridley)
- University of Reading, UK (Dr. Jonathan Gregory)
- University of Bristol, UK (Prof. Tony Payne)
- Laboratoire de Glaciologie et de Géophysique de l'Environnement, Grenoble, F (Dr. C. Ritz)
- Metropolitan University of Manchester (Dr. Sarah Raper)
- Alfred-Wegener-Institut für Polar- und Meeresforschung, Bremerhaven, D (Dr. Daniel Steinhage, Prof. G. Lohmann)
- Technische Universität Dresden, D (Prof. R. Dietrich)
- University of Sheffield, UK (Dr. E. Hanna)
- NASA, Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, USA (Dr. Bob Thomas, Dr. Bill Krabill)
