Current and past research
Marc is currently a PhD student under the VLIR-ICP sandwich program. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology (major in Ecology) from the University of the Philippines Los Baños and his Master’s degree in Human Ecology from the VUB (VLIR scholarship). In the Philippines, he has worked as a Research Assistant on various projects related to the use of simulation models and geographic information systems in agriculture and forestry studies. His research interests include the use of information technologies in enhancing local participation for community-based natural resource management. For his PhD research, he is developing a land resource information system for an agricultural community in the Philippines to assist farmers in the selection of appropriate agroforestry species in order to help them meet their livelihood objectives. During his free time, Marc likes to cook for friends, listen to good music, and ride his bike. He wishes that he can snorkel and play the guitar more often. lti-source/multi-resolution modeling in remote sensing and GIS
