Anneke Geyzen

Anneke Geyzen obtained a Master in History from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in 2007. Her Master's thesis was titled La classe indigente dans la recherche de ses moyens d’existence? Leurders in Brussel in de 19de eeuw. In 2008, she obtained a Master in European Urban Cultures (POLIS) with a thesis on social mix policy in different European cities. The program enabled her to study at the Universiteit Tilburg, the Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Arts and Design Helsinki. She started her Ph.D. research in January 2009, examining the relationship between Flemish identity construction and the invention of a culinary heritage. Her research has to be situated within the framework of the project 'Artisan quality of fermented foods: myth, reality, perceptions and constructions' - a collaboration between FOST and IMDO (Industrial Microbiology and Food Biotechnology). Currently, she is co-organizing the international conference 'A taste of home. Food, idenity, place and memory in Europe from a historical perspective (19th-20th centuries)' which will take place in Brussels on 9 and 10 February 2012.
