Karen Arijs
Karen Arijs (1984) studied history (2007) and philosophy (2009) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She obtained her teacher's degree in 2008. Her Master's thesis explored the vulnerability and resilience (after a disaster occurred) of families living on the Antwerp countryside. As of September 2010, she works as a researcher at the research group FOST, on a Ph.D. about the cultural construction of the border region Belgian-Dutch Limburg in the 19th and 20th centuries. This research is subsidized by the European Science Foundation (EUROCORES).
