Olivier de Maret
Olivier de Maret graduated with a Bachelor in International Affairs and History from Vesalius College (Vrije Universiteit Brussel) in 2003. He then obtained a Master in Modern European History from King's College London in 2005. The title of his Master's thesis was Images of War, Memories at War: Reading and Remembering World War II in Belgium. As of October 2009, he joined the research group FOST as a Ph.D. candidate, dealing with Italian migrants in Brussels, their meeting places and the construction of identity linked to food and foodways, roughly from 1880 to 1935. Currently, he is co-organizing the international conference 'A taste of home. Food, identity, place and memory in Europe from a historical perspective (19th-20th centuries)' which will take place in Brussels on 9 and 10 February 2012.
