WelcomeA lot of people study in Brussels. The cost of attending university in Belgium is very reasonable (especially in comparison to the US and the UK) thanks to generous government funding. However, Belgian education is internationally renowned for its high standard. Every year about 70.000 students study in Brussels. This is not surprising. With its international institutions, companies and embassies, Brussels is the beating heart of Europe. Study in Brussels? In a heartbeat! Brussels is not only the capital of Belgium, but it is the capital of the European Union as well. It is behind only New York as the city with the largest number of international organizations and corporations in the world. Brussels is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world. 31% of its population is of foreign origin, and this makes for a unique atmosphere in which cultures interact easily with one another.
English is rapidly becoming an important language in Brussels because of the numerous international political organizations. Language is not a barrier in the capital of Europe. BrufaceBrussels Faculty of Engineering (in short "Bruface") is powered by the two universities in the centre of Brussels. Starting from the academic year 2011-2012 Université Libre de Bruxelles and Vrije Universiteit Brussel jointly organise fully English taught Master of Science programmes in Engineering. The Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB) and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) are both active in several international higher education networks including T.I.M.E. and UNICA. Since their creation, our both universities have kept the flame of freedom burning and have always defended the major issues of democracy, individual freedoms and the respect for human rights.
