The University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

An unwavering commitment to outstanding education and research has defined the University of British Columbia's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences for 60 years.  Rapidly growing, it is now home to 40 faculty members, over 100 clinical instructors, 680 undergraduate students, and 60 graduate students, and the Faculty receives the highest per capita grants for any Faculty of Pharmacy in the country.
UBC Pharmaceutical Sciences – one of the premier Faculties of its kind in the world – is  championing a number of initiatives, including aggressively enhancing infrastructure to support world-class teaching, learning, and research; providing innovative solutions to government in health care and research; building solid, lasting relationships with the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries in British Columbia and across Canada, and playing an important leadership role in major new government initiatives such as the Centre for Drug Research and Development (CDRD).  In Fall 2012, the Faculty will open the doors to a new, state-of-the-art, $155 million facility that will jointly house both the Faculty and CDRD.
UBC is now seeking a new Dean to lead the Faculty in realizing its vision to advance knowledge, health-care outcomes, and evolving pharmacy practice through leadership and innovation in research, education, and scholarly activity in the pharmaceutical sciences.

  1. The successful candidate will have an exemplary record as an educator and researcher in a related field and be eligible to be appointed as a Full Professor at UBC in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.  The new Dean also will bring a commitment to the profession, demonstrated leadership experience within a well-respected university or related research organization and the capacity and vision to build on the momentum that the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences has achieved in recent years.  A strategic and innovative leadership style and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
