Dear colleagues, dear friends,
2011 has been a fine year, we have finished the European project PHARMINE and the results can be found on the pharmine website (www.pharmine.org). Based on the pharmine results, already three papers appeared in international journals (Atkinson J, Rombaut B. The 2011 PHARMINE report on pharmacy and pharmacy education in the European Union. Pharmacy Practice (Internet) 2011 Oct-Dec;9(4):169-187, Atkinson J, Rombaut B. The PHARMINE study on the impact of the European Union directive on sectoral professions and of the Bologna declaration on pharmacy education in Europe. Pharmacy Practice (Internet) 2011 Oct-Dec;9(4):188-194, Guimarães Morais JA, Cavaco AM, Rombaut B, Rouse M, Atkinson J. Quality assurance in European pharmacy education and training. Pharmacy Practice (Internet) 2011 Oct-Dec;9(4):195-199)) and more have to come. Meanwhile, we are working on several exciting new European projects, together with our sister organizations : PGEU (representing the community pharmacists), EAHP (representing the hospital pharmacists), EIPG (representing the pharmacists) and EPSA (representing the students) and several Schools of Europe. Results will be available soon.
As shown on this website our Annual conference is coming up soon (see also the conference website : www.eafp2012.nl). The theme : Tradition and Innovation in Pharmacy Education : from Content to Process is very exciting. At the occasion of our Annual Conference, elections will be held for the Executive Committee of EAFP. According to the EAFP statues, the Executive Committee (ExCo) is composed of eleven members. Six ExCo members will stand for a further term : Renate Jachowicz (Poland), Luis Recalde (Spain), Lilian Azzopardi (Malta), Keith Wilson (UK), Giuseppe Ronsisvalle (Italy) and Bart Rombaut (Belgium). The latter two were in their final term, but according to the Statues (article 8.7) and in the interest of the Association, the ExCo has asked them to go for a further term. These acting members of the ExCo (6) have to stand for re-election, but this means that at least five more positions are available and that EAFP is looking for motivated new candidates for the Executive Committee. If you might be interested, please send a short CV and a picture to the webmaster of EAFP. Be present at the Annual Conference and stand for election !!
Please find also a copy of the minutes of the General Assembly 2011 (click here).
We invite you all to our Annual conference, which will be exciting for everybody who is involved in pharmacy education in Europe. The venue is the mediaeval town of Utrecht in the wonderful Netherlands.
See you all in Utrecht !!
