Ignace Glorieux is gewoon hoogleraar sociologie en voorzitter van de vakgroep Sociologie van de Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
Hij geeft cursussen over sociale ongelijkheid, methodologie, sociologische theorie, cultuurpolitiek en tijdssociologie. Zijn voornaamste onderzoeksdomein betreft de studie van tijdsordening en tijdsbesteding. Hij doet onderzoek naar de tijdsbesteding van de Vlamingen en analyseert de tijdsbesteding van de Belgen op basis van gegevens verzameld door het Nationaal Instituut voor de Statistiek. Hij is ook betrokken bij een longitudinaal interuniversitair onderzoek over de transitie van school naar werk (SONAR).
Hij is bestuurslid van de International Association for Time Use Research (IATUR), lid van het European Research Network on Transitions in Youth en lid van de expertgroep van Europese tijdsonderzoekers die het European Time Use Research Program van EUROSTAT superviseert.

Ignace Glorieux is full professor of sociology and head of the Sociology department of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. He is a member of the TOR Research Group since 1983 and teaches courses on social theory, social inequality, sociology of time, leisure politics and methodology. He is involved in time use studies in Flanders and Belgium, in a longitudinal study on the transition from school to work and in different research projects on cultural practices and cultural participation. He is a member of the board of the International Association for Time Use Research (IATUR), a member of the Taskforce 'Time Use Survey' at EUROSTAT and member of the European Research Network on Transitions in Youth.
