Research Interests

After getting his PhD, Philippe did a postdoct. at the University of California Los Angeles analyzing trace elements and platinum group element by neutron activation, he then returned to the University of California at Berkeley, in the group of Walter Alvarez, to continue working on the mass extinction at the Cretaceous-Tertiary boundary and the Chicxulub crater in Yucatan. In 1996, he moved to the Museum of Natural History in Berlin as head of the analytical labs. In 2001, he joined the Geology department at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
