Fabrice SERVAES received his degree of M.Sc in Biology, option Environmental Biology, in July 2006 from the Free University of Brussels (VUB), Brussels, Belgium. Thesis M. Sc. in Biology: Effects of Landscape Attributes on the Ornithofauna in a Central Greek Agricultural Landscape Type. Study of Vegetation Structures, Ornithofaunal Composition and Ecology.

In August 2006 he joined the department ANCH of the VUB, where he starts a PhD. The main objective of this research is to reconstruct past environmental conditions, such as salinity and water temperature, based on stable isotopes (d¹³C; d¹⁸O) and trace element proxies (Mg/Ca, Sr/Ca, etc.) incorporated in biogenic carbonates (in this case bivalve shells).
