VUB and ULB fully participate in the EU-China Higher Education Platform for Cooperation and Exchange (HEPCE) on 25 April, 2013 in Brussels. This is the ideal opportunity to jointly organise a reception in the Brussels City Hall on 24th April to welcome the Chinese delegation from 38 top Chinese universities, of which many are privileged partner universities of VUB.
A team of biologists at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) has found an unexpected similarity between the toe pads of frogs and the hair of mammals. Wim Vandebergh, Margo Maex, Franky Bossuyt and Ines Van Bocxlaer at the Amphibian Evolution Lab of the VUB discovered that the proteins that make the bumps in frog's toe pads are the same as those behind the formation of hair in mammals. The researchers published their results this week in the scientific journal “Biology Letters”.
