How does it work?

Since 2013, the IES offers a Postgraduate Certificate in EU Policy Making designed and instructed by EU and e-learning experts. This academic programme is equivalent to 25 ECTS and combines 5 EU Modules online courses with the Inter-University Summer School, in an innovative blended learning fashion. The certificate is an excellent choice for students and young professionals who wish to broaden their knowledge on the functioning of the European Union, its intricate decision-making process and the roles of various actors involved.

Study credits

This academic programme is equivalent to 25 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System). 1 credit represents 25-30 hours of study activity.

Modules

The five EU modules are entirely online, involving communication with teachers and tutors, support, assignments and feedback. All students get access to the online courses on CANVAS for a period of 12 months, the entire duration of the Postgraduate Certificate programme. The written exams are taking place in Brussels in January (first term) and in May (second term).

There are five online modules on European affairs:

  • History and Theories of European Integration
  • European Union Institutions
  • European Decision Making and Law
  • European Public Policy Analysis
  • European Union Foreign Affairs

The Summer School on EU Policy Making is a face-to-face course that takes place in July for two weeks, one week in Brussels and one week in Vienna. The next edition of the Summer School will take place from Monday 2 to Friday 13 July 2018. All information about the summer school can be found on its dedicated website www.eu-summerschool.eu.
