European Policy Making

The Postgraduate Certificate in EU Policy-Making combines the IES Summer School in 2 prime European cities with 5 EU Modules online courses, in an innovative blended learning fashion. You can either start by taking the Summer School in July followed by the EU Modules part, or kick off with the EU Modules in September and take the Summer School the year after. The online courses can be accessed and processed 24/7, allowing participants to combine them with a full-time job. We've developed a minisite dedicated to this programme that will tell you all you need to know about it! It also contains a short Youtube clip with testimonials from professors, students, and alumni. Check it out!

How does it work?

From 2014 onwards, the IES offers a Postgraduate in EU Policy Making, developed and designed by EU and e-learning experts. This programme combines five online EU modules and the inter-university Summer School, thus embracing the Blended-Learning approach.

Study credits

ECTS (European Credit Transfer System): 1 credit represents 25-30 hours of study activity

Modules

The five EU modules are entirely online, involving communication with teachers and tutors, support, assignments and feedback. All students get access to the online courses on CANVAS for a period of 12 months, the entire duration of the Postgraduate Certificate programme. The written exams are taking place in Brussels in January (first term) and in May (second term).

There are five online modules on European affairs:

  • History and Theories of European Integration
  • European Union Institutions
  • European Decision Making and Law
  • European Public Policy Analysis
  • European Union Foreign Affairs

The Summer School on EU Policy Making is a face-to-face course that takes place in July for two weeks, one week in Brussels and one week in Vienna. The next edition of the Summer School will take place from Monday 3 to Friday 14 July 2017. Full information about the summer course can be found on the course page.
