Honorary Doctorates 2011
On the 25th of May 2011, a few days short of the dies natalis of the university (28th of May), the Vrije Universiteit Brussel will hand out five honorary doctorates to five inspiring personalities who each excel in their own domain They will receive this honorary doctorate in recognition of their achievements in the academic, scientific or social field:
- Marleen Temmerman , Head of department Gynaecologie-Verloskunde UZ Gent, Director of the International Centre for Reproductive Health (UGent)
- Ronald Levy , Chief of Division of Oncology Stanford
- Costas Soukoulis , Iowa State University, University of Crete
- Donald L. Horowitz , Duke University, Ethnic Groups in Conflict
- Eddy Merckx , Cycling champion
