Disability and study
Being a student with a disability...
The Vrije Universiteit Brussel considers students with disabilities as a special target group. Special situations demands special measures. Consequently, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel has set up a special service for students with disabilities, where they can get advice and assistance with anything connected to their situation. This service, called Disability and Study (Handicap en Studie) will do its utmost to discuss the obstacles posed and find a suitable solution in consultation with the student in question, the lecturer and anyone else who may be involved.
...does not have to be a handicap
The VUB’s Disability and Study service consciously chooses to let disabled students enjoy life in all its aspects, as independently as possible.
With that aim, the service developed a special scenario on disability and study. To view the table of contents of this scenario, click here. This scenario is the result of research done on the subject of studying with a disability, conducted in support of our guidance activities.
For whom?
Most people associate the word ‘disability’ with reduced mobility. Nothing is farther from the truth. The Disability and Study service also helps students suffering from dyslexia, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, diabetes, etc.
