Lifelong Learning Programme (LLP) / Erasmus

The Vrije Universiteit Brussel has been participating in
the Erasmus programme for more than 20 years and
is a holder of the Erasmus University Charter (EUC).
This means our university is entitled to apply for
funding for the following Erasmus activities:

  • Erasmus student and teaching staff mobility as well as the organisation of such mobility;
  • Activities related to the introduction, implementation and /or extension of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS);
  • Curriculum Development projects, Intensive Programmes and Thematic networks;

Today, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel has more than
470 bilateral Erasmus agreements with more than
250 partner universities across Europe that allow
for student and staff mobility. Based on these
contracts, we can welcome incoming students
from Bachelor to Doctoral level. The contracts also
allow for staff mobility of visiting professors.

Annually the Vrije Universiteit Brussel welcomes more than 180 incoming Erasmus students from the 31 countries involved in the Erasmus program, from Lithuania to Turkey.

Application procedure

Erasmus Studies Erasmus Placement

Double-check with your home university whether there is a bilateral agreement with VUB for your study field and level.
When there is no bilateral agreement, an Erasmus exchange at VUB will not be possible.

Send following information to erasmus.incoming@vub.ac.be
- Name (first name, last name)
- Home university
- Field of Study
- Study level (Ba/Ma + 1st/2nd/3rd year)
- Duration of internship

Make sure that the Erasmus coordinator of your home university sends a formal nomination of your Erasmus to erasmus.incoming@vub.ac.be
If not we do not receive an official nomination, we cannot consider your application

Send a research proposal/ activity plan to erasmus.incoming@vub.ac.be

When there is a bilateral agreement and you are nominated by your home university, you can apply in our online application system:

If you are already in contact with a VUB-department and/or supervisor, please give us the name of your VUB contact person.

 

After we have received the above information from you, we will forward your information to the concerned department at VUB to inquire whether they can host you for a placement or not.
