CSC and VUB jointly offer 10 scholarships in 6 disciplines of excellence with a 3 year CSC scholarship and a 4th year VUB scholarship.

Molecular Biology & Biotechnology (2 scholarships)

The Vrije Universiteit Brussel offers the possibility to get a PhD in 6
focused excellent research units. This is an ideal context for Chinese
students to start doing research and to finish their first important
step in their career by getting a PhD in Brussels.

(1) Candidates will submit their applications to VUB (in English) and to CSC (in Chinese), using the online forms of VUB and of CSC. Each applicant must complete both forms.

FOR THE VUB APPLICATION FORM:
A) go to this link to find and apply for a vacancy that suits you.
B) Carefully read the instructions to complete your online applications.
C) you still have to send these copies to the VUB:
A certified copy of the Master diploma together with a list of subjects and the results of the Master programme; A translation of the text on the diploma, if this diploma is in Chinese A copy of your TOEFL certificate or similar A copy of other tests and language tests certificates (if available)
FOR THE CSC APPLICATION FORM: (! Please check deadlines with CSC website)
Candidates must complete an online application form and submit a completed employer reference form to CSC. These forms are available at http://apply.csc.edu.cn.
One copy of the signed CSC application form plus the completed employer reference form must be posted to CSC before the application deadline (March 10, 2010).
Candidates must also post to CSC before the application deadline one copy of all the application documents submitted to VUB.
(2) Applications will be considered by the faculties and departments of VUB and initial offers of admission will be made to candidates who have met the scheme’s conditions of eligibility and who have been offered a place to do research at VUB.
(3) March 10 2010: VUB will send CSC its recommendation for the initially selected candidates.
(4) CSC will do further shortlisting and select the final candidates.
(5) END March 2010: VUB will confirm the final candidates with CSC.
Starting from SEPTEMBER 2010, the selected will start their fruitful research career at the VUB.
