Research Interests

David has recently completed his Master of Science in Ecological Marine Management at the VUB. His main interest area is mangrove crab ecology. David focused on the effects salinity on mangrove crabs. Moreover, he estimated the acute and chronic tolerances to differing salinities for different species. His work was promoted by Dr. J.F. Tack, Prof. Dr. M. Vannini and Dr. Bart De Wachter. Read the abstract of his thesis.

David is now working on his Ph.D. in the laboratory of Analytical and Environmental Chemistry, his project deals with the validation of bivalves as environmental archives. More details can be found at: http://www.vub.ac.be/calmar/gillikin.htm.
