Master Class on Migration & Integration Research with Prof. Dr. Godfried Engbersen (DSh17)

Call for contributions:

Click here for call for contributions. Interested PhD students should send their CV and a brief description of their research (200 words) to Helga.De.Valk@vub.ac.be before December 1st, 2009. Students are invited to propose names of a Belgian expert in the field whom they would like to comment on their work. A maximum of eight PhD students will be selected. All selected PhD students have to submit a short research paper (between 7 to 10 pages) before January 10th, 2010.

Master Class on Migration & Integration Research with Prof. Dr. Godfried Engbersen

Short description:

The Master Class is an initiative by the inter-disciplinary VUB workgroup on migration & integration research. The aim is to enable doctoral students from different disciplines within the human sciences to discuss their research project and problems with an international expert (Prof. Dr. Engbersen) and four Belgian experts from other universities, and to strengthen interdisciplinary discussion and collaboration between the different VUB teams engaged in migration & integration research.

Competences:

Strengthening of academic discussion competences; Better insight in inter-disciplinary dimensions of one’s research subject

Previous knowledge:

Experience in research on migration and integration; writing, speaking and understanding academic English

Content:

Advance papers from each of the participants + one core publication by the invited expert

Condition(s) for attribution of credits (e.g. active participation or mode of assessment):

Two credits are awarded on the condition that a written paper is made available in advance and that it is presented during the master class.
