Enrolment

PhD students enrolled for the first time for a PhD at the VUB in the academic year 2008-2009 will become automatically a member of a Doctoral School. The choice for which School is made in consultation with your promoter.

If you enrolled as a PhD student before 2008-2009 ('old' PhD students) you have the choice to become a member of a Doctoral School or not.

If you chose not to become a member, this means you won't be able to benefit from the (free) activities and services offered in the framework of the Doctoral Training Programme.

If you do chose to become a member and want to take part in the new Doctoral Training Programme, please use this form: Enrolment Form Doctoral School. Complete the form and have it signed by your promoter and the Dean of your Faculty. Then send it to the Registrar's Office. As soon as the new information is processed, you are member of a Doctoral School, which entitles you to attend 60 credits worth of courses in the Doctoral Training Programme.

Previous activities

'Old' PhD students who become a member of one of the three Doctoral Schools can submit activities from previous years in their Doctoral Training Programme. These can be activities from either category (regular courses, Doctoral Seminars, research activities).

Important are the following conditions:

  • you need to be able to show a proof for every activity you wish to add to your Programme
  • you need to attach the proof as a pdf document to your activity in your PhD portfolio. (More information on this PhD portfolio will be available online soon.)

The ultimate decision about the eligibility of the previous activities is taken by the Director of your Doctoral School.
