The department ELEC of the VUB, organizes a 4 weeks doctoral school (Spring 2010) to give an intensive training on advanced modeling and simulation techniques of (non)linear dynamic systems, starting from experimental data. Half of the time will be spent on courses/exercises, the other half on a project to get hands-on experience. The material that is taught during the courses and exercises will be put into practice during a clearly defined project, in order to get hands-on experience. The participants should have a good basic knowledge in system theory and signal processing. The course covers the following topics:

•    A basic introduction to system identification,
•    Identification of dynamic systems,
•    Measuring and modeling of nonlinear systems,
•    Simulation tools for nonlinear systems,
•    Design and characterization of high-frequency (nonlinear) systems
