Doctoral Training Programme
The Doctoral Training Programme consists of 60 credits. Each programme will be put together along the way on an individual basis, which means it will vary from student to student. The Programme's structure consists of 4 different clusters:
Cluster 1 - Regular Course Units
In order to broaden their academic skills, PhD students are given the opportunity to follow regular course units that are relevant for their research.
Thanks to the strategic alliance between the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Ghent University, PhD students can select course units from the two universities. As a member of a Doctoral School you can participate in regular courses organized by the VUB or the UGent for free (except courses which are part of a programme with higher tuition fees). Additionally, relevant courses and seminars organized by other istitutions can also be followed.
Relvant course units that you participated in after your initial training, i.e. the training that granted you access to the PhD, can also be added to the programme. This can only be done upon agreement of your supervisor and your Doctoral School director and if you can provide the required information and proof.
More information regarding registrations, credits, evaluations and proof of participation can be found here.
Cluster 2 - Doctoral Seminars
The term Doctoral Seminars entails in depth and broadening trainings that focus on enhancing the PhD students's skills. These seminars are mostly offered by the Central PhD Office (transferable skills) and by the Doctoral Schools. The activities of the Central PhD Office, the Doctoral Schools and some other organisers such as the R&D-department or TTI can be found in this table.
Relevant activities for PhD students can be recognised by the 'audience' mentioned in the first column: PhD Students.

More information regarding registrations, credits, evaluations and proof of participation can be found here.
Cluster 3 - Research Activities
The third cluster of the Doctoral Training Programme covers a very broad range of activities, different publication categories, participation in conferences and presentations, teaching and supervising activities, etc.
More information regarding registrations, credits, evaluations and proof of participation can be found here.
