How to introduce a ph query
Here are some short examples on searching multiple fields, applicable
to the ph versions in Eudora, ph and www. For gopher, check the help
on CCSO in gopher. All queries are case irrelevant.
- brouwer - De Brouwer / Brouwer
- brouwer* - De Brouwer / Brouwer / Brouwers / Brouwerys
- brouwer? - De Brouwer / Brouwer / Brouwers
- br?uw* - De Brouwer / Brouwer / Brouwers / Brouwerys / Brauwer
where
- * is a string of undetermined length
- ? is one single character
[ Note : Debrouwer (one word) will not be selected ; to search for
Debrouwer, you have to add 'de' to the name (e.g. debrouwer, debrouwer* ]
Each query needs at least one entry in the keyfields, and this entry cannot
start with a wildcard.
You can also add other fields in the query:
- name=brouwer office_address=197
- will return De Brouwer / Brouwer when office_address contains the string '197'
- brouwer preferred_phone='+*3727'
- will give De Brouwer / Brouwer when preferred_phone will end on '3727'.
- department=informatique office_address=197
- will give all persons whose department=informatique AND office_address contains the string '197'
Phonenumbers
Phonenumbers in the phonebook are stored in international format, i.e. +32-2-number.
To query on a phonenumber, you have introduce the complete number in the field, i.e.
+32-2-6294131. For simplicity, the +32-2- part has already been entered for you.
