Workshop

On Thursday 20th of September 2012 an EDISON workshop is being held at the premises of the Etterbeek Campus of the VUB.

The EDISON project helps reach the objectives of the CALL-ICT PSP-2011-5, Theme 1.2 "ICT for Energy Efficiency  in  Public  Buildings", with  an innovative solution focusing on lighting efficiency currently being implemented in several Pilots (Belgium, UK, Italy).

The Pilot Actions are based on the use of Solid State Lamps (SSL/LED) combined with a special power supply and data communication system, in order to realize a Smart Energy Platform (SEP). The SEP integrates advanced ICT components and systems (smart metering, power electronics, etc.) designed to reduce energy losses and consumption. It uses fine-grain sensor and control technology paired with a low voltage DC-powered network and high-efficiency LED devices. This combination is able to reduce electricity costs by more than 60% and can reduce building maintenance costs as well.

During the workshop, the details of the Pilot Actions and its more innovative aspects will be revealed. Guest speakers will also provide a more generalized understanding of efficient lighting and the role of ICT in building automation with energy reduction and comfort provisioning. Information about some ongoing ICT PSP Projects will be presented by project representatives.

Technical debate and information exchange with participants will be stimulated during Q&A sessions and informal discussions.

For public administrations expressing interest in the EDISON solution, a formal way of joining the project as an unofficial partner will be provided. For further information please send us an email
