Evening seminar & networking event

The focus of this highly recommended seminar will be on arbitration and mediation. No specific legal knowledge is required. Insights will be given into:

  • the commercial significance of arbitration and mediation
  • what using these ADR mechanisms entails
  • the role of an arbitrator and a mediator
  • how to prepare in advance
  • what to keep in mind
  • what services are available on the market
  • advantages and disadvantages

Speakers

  • Philippe Billiet is a member of DBB Law's ADR team. He is an accredited mediator and provides mediation training under the EMTPJ program. He also lectures on dispute settlement at the Brussels Institute of Contemporary China Studies  (BICCS) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and is frequently appointed as an arbitrator. He holds numerous publications on ADR, with particular focus on recent evolutions in the field of arbitration.
  • Willem Meuwissen is an accredited mediator with many years of experience. He teaches negotiation and mediation under the bMediation program and the EMTPJ program. He is a permanent member of the Civil and Commercial Mediation Committee of the Belgian Federal Mediation Commission, member of the Flemish Bar Association ADR Commission and author of numerous publications on commercial law and mediation.

This event will take place on 29th March 2012, from 6pm till 8 pm, followed by a networking reception until 9pm. It will take place at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Karel Van Miert Building, Pleinlaan 5, 1050 Brussels. Participation is free of charge though it is necessary to register by sending an email to events@dbblaw.eu(The number of places is limited and places will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis).
