Guest lecture

Lecture by H.E. Mr Stefan Tinca, Ambassador of Romania to the Kingdom of Belgium.

In the face of ever-evolving communicating technologies, the practice of diplomacy faces historical challenges and must adapt to increase its impact. By means of presenting new media and digital technologies and their impact on defining and practicing diplomacy – digital diplomacy, e-diplomacy, diplomacy 2.0, twidiplomacy -  this lecture attempts to focus on the relationship among diplomacy, communication and information. In addition, this lecture offers a practical discussion on classical and new understandings of diplomacy, with a stress on state-related diplomacy (as opposed to corporate diplomacy, regional diplomacy and others). The participant will be provided with key elements to successful diplomacy given the current and future trends.

This lecture will be given in English. A small reception will be offered following the lecture, with opportunity for networking.
