On Thursday June 2 and Friday June 3 2016 the ‘Politicologenetmaal’ (‘24-hour Political Science Conference’) is again jointly organized by the Belgian Association for Political Science (VPW) and the Dutch Political Science Association (NKWP). This year the conference is organized by the Political Science Department of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

As always, the Etmaal will start on Thursday around lunch time and will close on Friday at approximately the same time. There will be 16 workshops. Their activities take place over the two days, with two sessions on Thursday afternoon and two sessions on Friday morning. After the workshop sessions on Thursday there is also a plenary session. The first part of this session consists of a plenary lecture by Joni Lovenduski, Anniversary Professor of Politics at Birkbeck College, University of London. Her lecture will address the question ‘Does Feminism need Political Science?’ After the plenary lecture, we will continue with the award ceremony (best MA dissertation and best PhD in political science, and lifetime achievement awards). The plenary session will conclude with a reception and dinner.

The various workshops cover, over the course of the two days, 8 to 12 papers and these papers can relate to broad topics such as political behaviour, political communication, political sociology, political economy, public administration, political theory, and political methodology. Academics but also practitioners can attend the workshops. Although the majority of attendees will present a paper, we also welcome visitors. The conference language is Dutch, but an important number of workshops are conducted in English.

More information on the workshops may be found in the attached brochure. For more detailed information on paper-givers, please consult the workshop directors or visit the conference website: http://www.politicologenetmaal.eu/.

Participants in the conference (paper-givers and visitors) have to register for the conference and pay their registration fees before 20 May 2016.
