invitation LIGHTtalks about “Careers in Photonics”

This special edition of “Light Night” aims to inform students and a broader public about the potential and impact of photonics, better known as the science and technology of light. 
 
We are happy to welcome following inspiring speakers who will highlight applications and career opportunities from different perspectives:
  • Dr Christ’l Joris (ETAP Lighting and President Agoria) who will talk about the presence of photonics in industry;
  • successful photonics alumni representing different personal career options with emphasis on the link between photonics education and career;
  • Prof Christopher T. Middlebrook (Michigan Technological University) highlights the role of SPIE in the transition from photonics education to the job market.

The talks will be moderated by Prof Francis Berghmans (Vrije Universiteit Brussel).

Prior to the talks we will provide a reception with sandwiches. After the talks, a Q&A session and a networking reception will follow. During the networking reception, you will also get the opportunity to learn more about the outreach activities (photonics experiments) of EYEST at its dedicated booth.
 
LIGHTtalks will take place in the  on Tuesday May, 10th 2016 at 18:00, and is open to everyone.
 
For organizational reasons, we kindly ask you to register before May 9th, free of charge, to the “Light Night” via b-phot.org, where you can also find the final program.
 
We are looking forward to meeting you in Brussels in the evening of Tuesday May, 10th!
