Course

This course aims to help students who already have a good basis in English to further develop both their communicative ability and their general proficiency in English. The focus is on developing the skills needed to perform well in English in an academic context, with particular attention paid to reading more complex texts (articles, reports) and to oral expression, especially presentation skills. By the end of the course, students should be able to express themselves clearly and without difficulty in an academic context, and to follow more complex argumentation in written and spoken English.

Who is it for?

This course is for VUB students a good basis in English and who would like to develop their (academic) English skills further.

Teacher

Rachel Nye is a CELTA-qualified teacher of English as a Foreign Language, with teaching experience gained in France, Germany and the UK. A native speaker of (British) English, she has been living in Belgium for several years, and has a PhD in English Linguistics from Ghent University [http://www.gist.ugent.be/members/rachelnye]. She has been a member of the ACTO team since October 2013.
