rector Caroline PauwelsAn evening with Mieke Verloo & Zap Mama.

One of the main pillars of my vision for our university is to strive for a collective project in service of our society but never wavering on our humanistic values. A scientific and intellectual project that focuses on the great societal challenges and actively participates in the socio-societal debates.

I am therefore very proud to present a new, interdisciplinary thinktank, POINTcarré and invite you to our first Brussels Salon. A format based on an idea from the 19th century which aims to  gather a select audience of academics, politicians, entrepreneurs & artists to talk about one of the above-mentioned challenges.

Gender equality definitely qualifies as a theme. In contrast to the wealth of studies on progress towards gender equality, opposition to gender equality is rarely studied, which makes it difficult to understand the positive and negative dynamics of gender equality as a political project. So states Prof. Mieke Verloo, keynote speaker for this event, invited by Prof. Karen Celis, curator for this evening.

I sincerely hope to welcome you on March the 8th, on International women’s day! Please RSVP below.
