Tai Chi courses

The Confucius Institute at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel organises Tai Chi group courses for beginners at the VUB Etterbeek campus and the VUB Jette campus in Brussels.

Tai Chi is a martial art that finds its origin in China. The discipline is characterised by slow, soft and harmonious movements combined with breathing techniques. You will learn and practice two different sequences: the 24- posture form and the 42-posture form. Both sequences are very popular in China and beyond, as they train the body and mind through fluid forms to cultivate vital energy (Qi 气).

The Tai Chi course at Jette focuses on the Snake Style, the most martial of the Yang Tai Chi styles. This style trains the spine, hips and internal muscles of the abdomen. Training of these core muscles allows for a strong footing with each posture, resulting over time in improved speed, power and sensititivity of the arms and hands.
