China Summer Camp of the Confucius Institute at the VUB 2018

Thursday, 5 July, 2018 - 13:30
Campus: Brussels Humanities, Sciences & Engineering campus
Summer School

Introduction

The summer camp is an excellent opportunity to explore the vast richness of China, its culture, history and society. Meet new people, hear exciting stories, visit ancient monuments and experience the intriguing complexity and the sincere kindness of Chinese society. If you have attended a Chinese language course, it is the perfect place to put your skills to the test. Those who attended classes on Chinese Religion or Chinese Philosophy can see with their own eyes how China’s history is still present to this very day. The summer camp consists of two parts. In the morning, Chinese language classes are offered according to the level of the participants, ranging from beginner to intermediate and advanced. In the afternoon, a broad variety of cultural activities are arranged. These include visits to museum and monument, culture classes, sports initiation, city tours and many more.

The location for the 2018 summer camp will be decided in March 2018. Under normal circumstances, two options are possible: A summer school programme to East China Normal University in Shanghai (usually 2 weeks) or a similar programme to Renmin University in Beijing and Sichuan University in Chengdu (1 week each). The main deciding factor is the number of participants.

Sponsorship

The Confucius Institute covers the greater part of local expenses in China for all participants. This includes your stay at the university dorms, tuition fees for the courses, local group transport for trips and between cities, entrance fees related to cultural visits.

Other costs and arrangements are the responsibility of the participant. This includes the booking and cost of the flight tickets to and from China and traveling insurance.

General Conditions

Candidates are eligible for sponsorship by the Confucius Institute at the VUB under the condition that the participant is a student of the Confucius Institute classes at the VUB.
