Beware of extortion emails!

Since 28 January a new campaign is ongoing in which users are invited to pay a ransom in Bitcoins to prevent that (said) confidential information would be made public on the Internet. In some of these messages, the sender threatens to use violence.

Never respond to such a request!

The sender of the email is just trying to convince you that they have obtained personal information about you, or that someone has been hired to take physical action.

Some messages also include a password which was supposed to be yours. In most cases this password is fake and not the password of your account.

Read the knowledge article Do not respond to extortion emails! for more details.

VUB takes new learning platform Canvas in production

As of the 24st of September, the VUB has taken the new learning platform Canvas (https://canvas.vub.be) in production.

There have been a few hickups at the start, but most teachers and students should now have access.

Problems logging in into Canvas?

Do make sure to log in into Canvas with your vub.be address and on the website https://canvas.vub.be
If you can't log in with your vub.be address, "confirm" your password in Personal Account Manager (https://www.vub.ac.be/tools/pam/) by "changing" your password (you can keep the same password). An hour after completing the "confirmation process", you should be able to log in into Canvas.

If you then still have any issues with your account in Canvas, contact the ICT-Helpdesk.
