The Master of Science in Geography programme includes a core module, a specialisation module, a module strengthening courses and the master thesis.

Core Module

The core programme consists of two modules: Human-Environment Interactions and Research Methods in Geography. All courses in the core programme are mandatory.

Human-Environment Interactions

Human-Environment Interactions: all courses are mandatory.

Specialisation Earth and Climate: Strengthening courses

Students choose one module (15 ECTS-credits): 'Development' or 'GIS and Earth Observation' and another 21 ECTS-credits from the other module, from the list of recommended electives or from the list of other electives, including courses from other specialisations.

Students that lack specific knowledge with respect to mathematics, ecology, statistics, GIS and/or basic programming skills, can take up to 15 ECTS-credits of reorientation courses after consultation with the program director.
To complete this module, students must obtain 36 study points.

The topic of the master thesis is related to the specialisation that is chosen. Students must have obtained at least 48 ECTS-credits of the Master of Science programme before being allowed to register for the master thesis.
